Steroids or Concusions, The Greater Evil?
It's becoming a thing of fashion to debate the steroid issue in baseball, while the NFL's problems have just begun. Fans of baseball don't seem to mind according to game attendance, and if so many are doing it, the players aren't speaking out on it much.As for football, the players have to care, as it impacts them more directly, but fans just want the hits to keep coming.
MLB needs to solve their problem just to get the Hall of Fame voting straightened out. Policies in place now are not much of a deterrent, as a 50 game suspension is a slap on the wrist and well worth the risk of a multi-year mega contract. I say it should be a year long suspension and the club should have the option of voiding the contract. But there's a catch. Players should be allowed to use banned substances that are legal drugs to help heal an injury, as long as they get league approval first, and discontinue use when healed according to a league doctor. Also, you should be ineligible for the H.O.F. if a panel reviews your case and deems it blatant. 2 strikes and you're banned from the league as well. There you go problem solved.
The NFL, on the other hand, really doesn't have a problem to me as long as players and fans aren't concerned about concussions as much. Sure the league needs to get better equipment and perhaps widen the field to open it up more to accommodate increased player size, but what else can they do? They will lose tons of money by making drastic rule changes and even that won't help. I'd easily take a 10,000 fine if I were making an NFL salary, you can't scare the players. Touch football is the only option and that ain't happening!
These issues won't leave anytime soon, but hopefully MLB can fix their issue, but the NFL problem is directly related to how the game is played. I just hope MLB gets the problem solved, because honestly, football can't change without totally changing the game I love. What say you?

Fixing the NBA All-Star Game
It's time to steal a page from the NHL and add some international flavor. We need a U.S. vs the world game. If the commissioner is serious about having a global game, he should listen.
Tony Parker, the Gasoline brothers, Rubio, Dirk,Ginobili, etc. would draw huge interest.
It would be similar to the Olympics, except we would play the best foreign born players at one time. If you don't think it would be an intense battle, you are mistaken. The game needs something like MLB did putting home field advantage on the line to keep the game "real". Pride would make the game competitive and garner huge international viewers and interest. C'mon Mr. Stern, listen to one of the leagues biggest fans,Spike Lee, and "Do The Right Thing!".
